Routine Dental Care

Regular dental cleanings are essential for proper oral health.

Even with proper brushing and flossing, the plaque on your teeth will harden and form what is known as calculus. Calculus and plaque on the tooth surface cause inflammation of the gums – gingivitis. This makes a person’s gums bleed when they brush or floss.

And long-term gingivitis can lead to a more advanced gum disease called periodontitis. Periodontitis causes loss of the supporting bone and soft tissue that attaches to and anchors your teeth. This loss of bone weakens the support for your teeth and may lead to further attachment loss. It can potentially lead to losing teeth. Periodontal disease requires advanced treatment to arrest the disease followed by regular cleanings.

So, it’s much better to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

We recommend regular cleanings every six months. If you have gum disease or periodontal disease, you’ll need cleanings at shorter intervals of every three or four months.

Restorative Dental Care

Fillings

At Five Star Dentistry, we use tooth colored (composite) restorations to produce an esthetic and biocompatible result that lasts for years with proper home care. Occasionally, cavities or fractures may be too large for a composite to be a long-term solution and the doctor may recommend doing an inlay or onlay.

Inlays & Onlays

Inlays and onlays restore cavities and fractures that are too large to be restored by a typical filling. It takes two appointments for the inlays and onlays treatment to be completed and to be finally bonded to the damaged area of the tooth. Like fillings, inlays or onlays blend aesthetically with the treated tooth and the rest of the teeth to achieve a natural appearance.

Crowns & Bridges

Like inlays and onlays, crowns take two appointments for the treatment to be completed and permanently bonded to the tooth. A crown is a cap that is placed to cover the tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, and improve its appearance. Crowns restore teeth that cannot be restored by fillings or inlays/onlays. A bridge is used to replace a missing tooth, restoring both aesthetics and function.

Veneers

Using state-of-the-art technology, we fabricate veneers that result in a preparation that removes little or no healthy tooth structure. Veneers can improve the appearance of intrinsically stained, crowded or chipped teeth to create a beautiful smile.
